Dogs, politics, media, and more

And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace, and his body is laid away in the cold ground,
no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws,
his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death. -- George Graham Vest

Attention politicians! Dog owners DO vote!

The former mayor of Paradise Newfoundland found out the hard way yesterday that not only do dog owners vote, they don’t forget.  Voters ushered in 19-year-old  university student Kurtis Coombs who was Ralph Wiseman’s only competition.  A comment on one blog reads “Wiseman’s competition could have been a dog, it still would’ve won!”

In August 2007, Wiseman raised the hackles of the town’s dog owners when he publicly suggested that dog owners couldn’t read, that a baseball bat was the only thing they would understand, and that he felt like killing all the dogs in the town.  He also suggested that all dogs should be banned from public trails.

I hope that all politicians realize that dog owners are a significant segment of society and that the increasing attempts by lawmakers to isolate and segregate dogs and their owners from the rest of society will not be forgotten at the polls.
