On August 31 of this year, an incident took place in which at least one (and possibly more than one) collision between Michael Bryant’s car and Darcy Sheppard, a cyclist, resulted in Sheppard’s death.<\/p>\n
I have chosen not to write about this issue, simply because I do not believe anyone has the facts yet.<\/p>\n
Despite my sincere dislike of Michael Bryant as a politician and as a human being, I cannot, in all honesty, assume he’s guilty of killing a human being simply because I know he’s responsible for the killing of thousands of dogs in Ontario. I hope he’s found guilty if he acted criminally, but I’m certainly not going to trust what I read in the newspapers.<\/p>\n
Antonia Zerbisias, columnist for the Toronto Star, has taken a different tack.\u00a0 She avoids presuming Bryant’s guilt (barely) and instead focuses on the stark contrast between the public “spin” afforded Bryant (thanks largely to his public relations firm) and the virtual demonization of Sheppard by the same mainstream media outlets.<\/p>\n
