Dogs, politics, media, and more

And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace, and his body is laid away in the cold ground,
no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws,
his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death. -- George Graham Vest

David Letterman slams pit bulls

Kyra Sedgwick was on David Letterman on December 11 and mentioned the pit bull puppy that she and husband Kevin Bacon have adopted.  Letterman then proceeded to "joke in all earnestness" about the killer nature of these dogs.

happypitbull.com has some great comments about the responsibility of people with a large audience (such as Letterman) to be conscious of the power of their words.  The few sentences that Letterman said about pit bulls in a minute and a half could have a serious impact on the public’s perception of these dogs and, consequently, on lawmakers’ decisions.

Here’s the video of the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFL7ndJcbkA

It might be a good idea for people to contact David Letterman and let him know how they feel about his pontificating on a subject about which he clearly knows nothing.

It’s likely that CBS will just dump any e-mails that arrive, but this is the best info I have for contacting them:
