Dogs, politics, media, and more

And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace, and his body is laid away in the cold ground,
no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws,
his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death. -- George Graham Vest

Another tin-pot dictatorship I’ll never visit!!

Neguac, New Brunswick (Canada), has passed a bylaw banning “pit bulls”. Unlike most other misguided municipalities that decide to follow the “quick fix” of breed-specific legislation, Neguac has NOT included a grandfather clause.

This means that all existing dogs that fall under that very broad umbrella called “pit bull” must leave the town immediately or be confiscated.

Residents could have had their dog in that town for ten years with zero problems.  Too bad, so sad, you have to get rid of your dog.  Now!

This is a double-whammy example of how NOT to manage a perceived dog aggression problem.

Feel free to contact them through their website at http://www.neguac.com/ although I have my doubts as to how much they’ll listen.
